Client:  Blackswan Property

Role:  Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager

Sector: Regeneration, Residential

PMP are appointed as Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors for the refurbishment of the Grade II* listed Ashford & Sons building on Great Hampton Street to create 14 apartments, and the regeneration of the remainder of the site to create a further 142 apartments through the conversion and extension of existing offices and the construction of new four and five storey blocks.

The project deals sensitively with its location in the Jewellery Quarter Conservation Area by incorporating terracotta cladding panels to the facades of the new blocks on Great Hampton Street.

Several challenges needed to be overcome including contamination issues, presence of roosting bats, Rights of Light and Party Walls considerations, as well as close liaison with Birmingham City Council’s conservation team and Historic England.
