St Paul’s Church Phases 1 & 2
Client: St Paul’s Church, Leamington Spa
Role: Quantity Surveyor
Sector: Leisure, culture and community
Phase 1 of the project comprised works to the community aspect of the church, creating meetings rooms, a community hall, new entrance, kitchen and break out areas.
Phase 2 comprised developing a new seating layout to the worship space, replacing the previous floor finish with a high specification carpet, remediation works to the chancel area including making good the aslant floor and rebuilding to create a plumb finish. The side chapel was redecorated and fitted out with cinema style seating.
It was critical to protect the existing fixed altar and pulpit, which were wrapped in protective material and exclusion zones were formed, together with the unfixed lectern, credence table, religious equipment which were located in safe storage whilst the works were in process.
Another key challenge on the project was the identification of asbestos post contract within the basement which was an area added to the project to create extra storage space for the church. PMP reacted to this challenge by providing asbestos removal contacts to the client from our range of consultants / contractors that we have worked closely with over the years. PMP have a vast and varied list of consultants that we have had historical success working with, this enables us to step in and aid the client when unforeseen and specialist works occur on any given project.
Ultimately the project was completed under budget and on time, PMP believe that this was greatly assisted by the strong list of tenderer’s that we provided and our scrupulous tender evaluation to ensure that all works had been accounted for by the successful contractor.
