PMP were appointed in 2015 to work on the refurbishment of Aston University’s EAS Labs, with construction starting in April 2017, and we’re excited to say that they are now finished! The laboratories are for The Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies, which has more than 50 active researchers, and is the largest research group in the School of Engineering & Applied Science at the University, as well as one of the largest photonics research centres in the UK. The project brief was to strip out and convert vacant space at the lower-ground-floor of the main building of the University.
The laboratories were highly serviced and fitted out, and specialist installations involved a clean room, laser safety and gas detection. Over the past few years, we have been involved with numerous specialised projects at Aston University, including the European Bioenergy Research Institute (EBRI), Brain Centre and Woodcock Sports Centre. This week, we had the chance to photograph the finished labs, so why not take a look at the photos below!
