Birmingham Botanical Gardens secures a major grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund!
We’re excited to announce that Birmingham Botanical Gardens has successfully secured over £9 million from The National Lottery Heritage Fund for their Growing Our Green Heritage Project to save a historically significant botanic garden and preserve Birmingham’s priceless heritage for future generations.

With over 90% of the funding now secured for the works, Birmingham Botanical Gardens is appealing to everyone who cares about the Gardens to close the gap! Over the next 4.5 years, the project will work to restore the Gardens’ historic Grade II* listed glasshouses, enhance visitor infrastructure and amenities, improve sustainability and expand public access to education, horticulture, heritage and nature in a unique green space!

The National Lottery Heritage Fund and collective support mark a turning point in Birmingham Botanical Gardens’ 190-year history. As one of over 100 internationally accredited botanic gardens in the world, the site cares for over 30,000 plants of unique scientific and heritage significance, some of which are rare and critically endangered. The vital funding, made possible by the National Lottery will help the team to restore the site to its original design, and secure the future of this treasured historic site.
We look forward to seeing how this project progresses in the coming months! Watch this space
