PMP are proud to be appointed Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager for the conversion of a Landmark 1960s office building!
The development of Equipoint is set to create 247 luxury-finish apartments with associated services over 12 floors.
Known for its unique curvature, the building is located in Yardley, Birmingham, and is equidistant from the city centre, NEC and Birmingham Airport, being a prime location for young city-based professionals traveling to and from Birmingham. The development also lies near to the mainline stop for the high-speed rail connection that will link directly to the new HS2 station.
Approved by Birmingham City Council, the development involves the strip out and steel-frame rooftop extension to create an additional floor and open-plan living spaces. Existing doors have been removed and windows replaced with new thermal-efficient glass to greatly reduce the building’s carbon footprint and provide a modern-day approach to producing sustainable energy. The windows will also provide an effective noise barrier against the surrounding city environment. A new lift will be installed to improve the overall accessibility to all floors of the building and an on-site car park will also be included for residents.
With the team working hard, the entire scheme is set to be completed by May 2021, but the first apartments are planned to be ready by January. This will provide a much-needed living space for young professionals and the like to live, with connections to a wide range of transport links throughout the UK and further.
