On 8 September, we teamed up with BPN Architects to ‘give back’ to Lifecentral Church in Halesowen. Stepping away from our offices in the Jewellery Quarter for the day, we made our way to the church, armed with spades and trowels and literally got stuck in, sprucing up the outside space, removing hedges, doing a spot of strimming and landscaping.
PMP are currently acting as Quantity Surveyors on Lifecentral’s refurbishment, which opens as a new multi-purpose space on 15 September, so it was important to us to give back in such a way, knowing that we are making a difference to a local charity and an organisation we have worked closely with over the past year. We’ve been involved in the project from start to finish and it’s been a real pleasure to work with the team at Lifecentral over the last 12 months.
Corporate responsibility is about much more than ticking boxes- it’s at the heart of everything that we do as a business, influencing our decision making at every level, so being able to ‘give back’ in such a way leaves us with a lot of satisfaction that we’ve made a positive impact. And of course, it was also a nice break away from the office for the day. Although we did brave the unpredictable weather, donning wellies and raincoats…but the sun did eventually make an appearance.
As the photo here suggests, we were extremely well fed and watered and treated to a delicious buffet lunch, and would like to say a big thank you to all the staff and volunteers at Lifecentral for looking after us so well!
We can’t wait for the next border to weed now…
