We are delighted to announce that PMP Consultants will be acting as quantity surveyors on the Belgrade Theatre refurbishment, a £4.7m redevelopment project over the next two years.
The Belgrade Theatre is a flagship venue and partner and very much at the heart of UK City of Culture 2021. With our extensive experience of culture and theatre projects, this is something that we’re very excited about, and a project that will allow the theatre to maximise its potential and continue to be a key player in the City of Coventry. The redevelopment project will ensure that the theatre is “a sparkling cultural gem, showcasing the value, impact and rich cultural heritage of Coventry”. Works will include main stage refurbishment, cafe/ restaurant conversion, external works and general repairs, as well as improving the environmental sustainability of the building, creating an enhanced visitor experience!
The Grade II listed building has a rich history and dates from 1958. It was the first civic theatre to be constructed after the Second World War in Britain, and was very much more than just a place for entertainment, acting as a symbol of the city’s optimism and culture, and was key in the rebuild of Coventry after the Second World War. Its place today in Coventry is just as significant and we are very much looking forward to enabling the theatre and the city of Coventry to achieve its vision and create a building that is flexible for future needs.
