EBRI is the European Bio-Research Institution, sited as an extension at the rear of a listed portico building and next to the Sack of Potatoes building, central on the Aston Campus. EBRI housed teaching and research spaces and a Gasifier/ Pyroformer building.
The project included varied elevations, with glass cladding, curtain walling, metal cladding, mesh cladding, render and brickwork. There was a basement to house plant and storage, first and second floor for research and the gasifier building to house the major process.
Following the main project, research requirements had moved on, and revisions were required to the labs. There was a Phase 2 and Phase 3 phases (totaling £1.7m) to re-fit and revise the specialized services for new research.
