Project Description

Jewellery Quarter Townscape Heritage Scheme

Client: Jewellery Quarter Development Trust (JQDT)

Role:  Quantity Surveyor

Sector: Community, leisure and culture

The £2 million heritage project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), consists of six private-sector developments which are all statutory listed and located within the ‘Industrial Middle’ of the Jewellery Quarter Conservation Area. The funding will enable the Jewellery Quarter Development Trust (JQDT) to offer restoration grants to owners as part of the Jewellery Quarter Townscape Heritage scheme (JQTH), allowing essential conservation repairs to the buildings which are currently in a poor state of condition. This will ultimately bring vacant floor-space back into use, while sensitively refurbishing the buildings.

We have experience of many similar HLF funded projects and extensive experience in the successful delivery of heritage projects. The plan for the six buildings
is to sensitively refurbish them, ensuring they are sympathetic to the Jewellery Quarter Conservation Area, but bring them up to modern-day standards as far as possible, not comprising their historical integrity. The buildings identified as part of the project are:

• 6 Legge Lane
• 9-11 Legge Lane
• 60 Frederick Street
• 60-70 Regent Place
• 51-53 Vittoria Street
• 23-26 Warstone Lane
