Project Description

Rock UK Summit Centre

Client: Rock UK

Role: Quantity Surveying

Sector: Community/ Leisure

The Summit Centre is located approximately 23 miles north of Cardiff, and is one of four Rock UK centres across the country which provide activities with conference and meeting venues to schools, families, corporate and community groups.

The project itself involved the refurbishment and extension of the existing block, including the entrance to the building and most of the old climbing and sports facilities. The project has now provided Rock UK with a new accommodation block for overnight and weekend groups, including office space, catering, welfare and sleeping facilities with onsite staff on hand. All in all, 27Nr bedrooms were created, providing up to 57Nr beds for visitors. The centre was officially opened on Friday 22 February 2019 by the Prince of Wales.

The development at Summit Centre has been supported by £2.3m funding from the Welsh Government’s EU funded Tourism Attractor Destination programme. In addition, EU investment and support was secured by Rock UK through a consortium of other funds including Ffos y Fran Community Fund and Big Lottery Fund People and Places Programme and other non-public funds.
