Project Description

Merry Hill Cladding Replacement

Client: INTU

Role:  Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager, & Contract Administrator

Sector: Commercial

The project is a £12 million external cladding replacement with façade alterations to Merry Hill shopping centre. The project team includes MAC-Group and Architects, INC Design.

The work is part of the modernisation and improvement of the external façade of the shopping centre and has been carried out in seven phases. The main aim of the project was to transform the external walls and entrances at several locations. Earlier project  phases also included the refurbishment of Merry Hill’s car parks and bus station.

Outdated cladding at the Debenhams’ entrance has been replaced with curved Rockpanel cladding that appears in an array of colours including blue, green and purple. The new vibrant cladding is finished with discreet LED lighting hidden between the panels, to create a stunning visual display, while being sustainable and cost effective. Some of the entrance layouts have been reconfigured, and energy-saving feature lighting installed with large media screens. The façade at Argos & M&S has been upgraded to Rockpanel cladding in different gold shades and in a variety of finishes. Additionally, areas around Primark and Sports Direct will also be upgraded, and projections such as diamonds and pyramids will be displayed to provide an impactful finish to the front elevation.
