This summer, we provided quantity surveying and project management services for catering upgrades at the University of Birmingham (UoB).


UoB identified five spaces for refurbishment, with the work forming part of the university’s commitment to providing excellent facilities and services its for staff and students.

The five locations were;

  • Winterbourne House and Gardens
  • Murray Learning Centre
  • University Centre
  • Main Library
  • Bramall Music Building

The scheme development focussed on introducing personality and character into the spaces, as well as improving the current offer. UoB wanted to allow the consumer to make more sustainable choices by offering fresh food and drink, and vegan, and vegetarian options at each catering outlet. The spaces were designed to meet the differing needs of each location; whether that is speed and efficiency with a ‘grab-and-go’ approach at the Learning Centre, or more of a ‘relaxed’ offer at Winterbourne House and Gardens.
